When the security of the coastline
is the bottom line, count on SSR.
Surveillance of an entire coastline is possible with minimal operator effort and at minimal cost when multiple remote radar installations are networked to a Command Center using SSR's Radar System Components.
At each remote radar site, PC-based Radar Processors (PC-RP) control the Radar Transceiver and output the radar and AIS data via a TCP/IP network port. The data on the network can be augmented with live-camera, high resolution video using Camera Manager and video encoders. The combined radar and video data is then transmitted to the Command Center using a landline or wireless data link.
A Composite Tracker at the Command Center allows tracks from multiple radars and multiple sensors to be merged. Targets move seamlessly as they proceed from one radar coverage zone to the next along a section of coastline. If desired, multiple Remote Display Operator Position (RDOP) units at the Command Center
can allow multiple operators to assess the overall radar picture, with each operator zooming
into an area of interest.
For even wider coverage—including coast-to-coast—multiple Command Centers can be linked to Headquarters via a tiered network of secure TCP/IP links. At Headquarters, Remote Operator Display Positions can also zoom in to any area of interest, whether it involves a section of coastline or an incident with a single vessel. Vessels transmitting Automatic Identification System (AIS) can also be linked with the radar track data to provide position, name, and other ship data.
